Sinopec announced on August 7 that the effective working gas volume of its natural gas branch Wen 23 gas storage has reached 1 billion cubic meters, and the current total gas inventory is 6.16 billion cubic meters. The maximum peak shaving capacity of the gas storage this winter can reach 13 million cubic meters per day, which can meet the daily gas demand of 26 million households.
The Wen 23 gas storage project is a natural gas storage peak shaving facility with the largest storage capacity, the highest working gas volume, and the strongest peak shaving capacity in the eastern part of the country so far, with a total designed storage capacity of 10.4 billion cubic meters. The gas storage is located in Puyang, Henan, with Tianjin LNG (liquefied natural gas) receiving station and E'an-Cang pipeline in the north, Daniudi gas field and Yuji pipeline in the west, and Qingdao LNG receiving station and Shandong pipeline network in the east.
At present, the construction of the first phase of the Wen 23 gas storage project has been completed, and the approval of the second phase of the project is in progress. According to Sinopec, the design capacity of the first phase of the Wen 23 gas storage project is 8.43 billion cubic meters, of which 5.16 billion cubic meters of bottom gas and 3.27 billion cubic meters of working gas. After completion, the working gas volume can reach 4.093 billion cubic meters, and the maximum daily gas injection capacity is 23.4 million cubic meters.
